Those feelings of not feeling good enough, you don’t have what it takes, imposter syndrome, negative self-talk, doubt, worry, anxiety. It can affect everyone, it affected me for many years. Sometimes I still get those feelings, but I’ve learnt how to switch that energy to positive, so I can be productive and keep striving forward. How do we deal with it? How can we overcome it?
It’s a negative cycle that we learn to break free from. How do we turn on our own light? The mind can be an extraordinarily complex tool, but one thing is certain, the subconscious mind accepts whatever you tell it. If you keep telling yourself you aren’t good enough, it’s going to believe it. This also means that you can tell yourself you ARE good enough and it will start to believe it too. You can positively reinforce your mind into a positive cycle. This is done through repetition and habits.
One very simple and effective habit you can build up is journalling. The 2 most important times of the day are first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This is because your brainwaves are in a state known as “Alpha State”. This is the bridge between the conscious and subconconsious mind, where your subconscious is most open and susceptable to what you feed it. If you find your mind, at these 2 important times, is filled with negative self-talk, doubt or worry, then this is where you are dulling your own light.
Take these times to journal and write gratitudes. Tell your subconscious mind what you would like it to be. If you want to be more confident, write, “I am confident, I can handle any situation, I see the good in others, I am good enough, I will acheive my goals”. By doing so, you are turning on your own light and empowering yourself.
